Pianist Olga Kern with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Charleston Gaillard Center
1/14/20
Acclaimed Russian-American pianist Olga Kern joins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as they continue their 2020 US Tour on January 14 at 7:30pm in Charleston, South Carolina at the Gaillard Center.
An inspired work by contemporary orchestral and operatic composer, Jonathon Dove’s "Sunshine," opens the program, followed by Rachmaninoff's fiery "Piano Concerto No.2," a stunning work of Romantic color, passion, and elegance. The evening closes with Sibelius’ "Symphony No.2," a piece that defined Sibelius’ impact on his home country of Finland’s musical voice and identity.
“Solid, key-deep fingerwork and a penetrating, steel-edged sonority are prerequisites for playing Rachmaninov, and also characterise Olga Kern’s considerable pianism.” -BBC Music Magazine
