“When it comes to George and Ira Gershwin, musical director Rob Fisher is an authority.”
    Theater Mania
“Fisher is a pragmatic purist with a light touch who disdains the bloat and pomposity that often accrue to contemporary performances of vintage theater songs. Yet he discreetly lets a contemporary sensibility filter into everything so that even period jokes and wordplay sound fresh.”
    The New York Times

Rob Fisher is an internationally recognized music director, conductor and pianist, and a leading figure in American music and musical theatre. He has been a guest of virtually every major orchestra in the country as conductor or pianist.

Fisher is currently represented on Broadway as the score supervisor and arranger for An American in Paris (Grammy nomination). Additionally, he is represented as the music supervisor and arranger for Chicago: The Musical, which recently celebrated twenty years on Broadway.

He was founding music director and conductor of Encores! at New York City Center until 2005, a series that earned a 2000...

“Under the nimble baton of Rob Fisher... he and the Philharmonic did themselves proud, delivering the score with a plush sound that, as is often the case in these circumstances, drew attention to the intricacy and wit of the orchestrations...”
    The New York Times
“The onstage Orchestra of St. Luke’s, under the expert guidance and ever-attentive ear of Rob Fisher, was a near-constant, ravishing presence. Fisher’s approach to the music was reverential—he lavished attention on the details of the score, and made sure he gave each singer space to let the phrases flower to their fullest without ever letting the pacing go slack. The score had both shape and momentum, and the singing was glorious.”
Opera News (review of Carnegie Hall’s Leonard Bernstein centenary celebration, April 2018)
Fisher clearly knows every intricacy of the score, allowing him to conduct with an expert's explosive energy while still having fun with the onstage cast.
