“This iconoclastic soloist has always had a fierce independent streak in his music-making, his choice of repertoire, his stage presence, and the musical company he keeps.”
    Jeremy Eichler, Boston Globe

Driven by his strikingly uncompromising artistic philosophy, Gidon Kremer has established a worldwide reputation as one of his generation’s most original and compelling artists.

His repertoire encompasses standard classical scores and music by leading twentieth and twenty-first century composers. He has championed the works of Russian and Eastern European composers and performed many important new compositions, several of which have been dedicated to him. His name is closely associated with such composers as Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Pärt, Giya Kancheli, Sofia Gubaidulina, Valentin Silvestrov, Luigi Nono, Edison Denisov, Aribert Reimann, Peteris Vasks, John Adams, Victor Kissine, Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, Leonid...

“My work, my projects, my ideas—they swallow all my energy… I don’t want to sound melodramatic, but that’s my calling: to do something, to create something, that is greater than myself. That’s my life.”
Gidon Kremer, Die Zeit, December 2016
Kremer was spectacular all night. He has a superb bow arm, but his best attribute is his mind. Through the Schumann concerto, he was constantly searching for the best way to elucidate every phrase, doing nothing by rote.
    Andrew Druckenbrod, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
